I’m Stronger Than My Fear. I Won’t Be Pushed Around Anymore.

aría de Lourdes moved to Oaxaca with her family, hoping to build a life there. For years, her days revolved around caring for her children and husband within a relationship marked by control and fear.

Without telling her husband, she looked for work and found a job at a maquiladora, a factory producing goods for export. Employment seemed to offer a path toward independence, but she soon encountered other forms of inequality: exhausting shifts, constant pressure, and wages that barely covered her needs.

Facing control at home and injustice at work, Marilú decided she no longer wanted to remain silent. She began to speak up and defend her rights.

Through her experience, this episode explores how inequality at home and in the workplace can shape women’s lives, and what it takes to challenge those conditions and pursue greater independence.
