elene Herrera began working at the age of 14 to help support her family. Years later, following a divorce, she arrived in Puebla with almost nothing. Gradually, she built a new life and secured a job at Audi’s automotive plant.

An accident put that job at risk. Just when she thought she might lose it, an unexpected encounter introduced her to union organizing and opened up new possibilities for defending her rights.

Through Selene’s experience, this episode explores the connection between rebuilding a life, finding one’s voice, and taking part in collective action. Her story offers a personal perspective on what it can mean for a woman worker to speak up and become involved in union life in Mexico.
